61-year-old man killed in Hendricks County crash involving dump truck

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Hendricks County Thursday morning.

Hendricks County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of the crash around 10 a.m. Aug. 29 near the intersection of State Road 75 and County Road 600 South, just south of Coatesville. 

A preliminary investigation indicates a Kia SUV was going southbound on State Road 75 when, for an unknown reason, crossed into the northbound lanes of State Road 75 and was struck head-on by a dump truck.

Deputies confirmed the male driver and only person in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. On Sept. 9, the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office said he had been identified as 61-year-old Bruce Freeland, of Coatesville, Indiana.

 The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, according to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office.
