INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis will continue to be the home of the Big Ten Football Championship game through 2028.
The announcement was made Tuesday, July 23 during Big Ten Football Media Days.
The conference's championship game was already guaranteed to take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2024, which will be the 14th time the Circle City has hosted it — every year since its inception in 2011.
Expansion from 14 to 18 teams led to the elimination of the league's two-division format this season. Instead, the teams with the two best conference records will square off Dec. 7 in Indianapolis.
Indiana Sports Corp estimates the annual championship game generates $20 million worth of economic impact.
More than 100,000 fans took over downtown during the weekend of the 2023 championship game when Michigan beat Iowa 26-0, before winning the College Football Playoff title game Washington 34-13.
