INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD arrested a 33-year-old man Saturday for his alleged role in a hit-and-run crash on the east side of Indianapolis where a 16-year-old girl was injured.
Just before 9 p.m. July 20, IMPD said officers responded to the 4800 block of Brookville Road, near Emerson Avenue and English Avenue, on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that had driven off.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a teen girl in the street with a broken arm and apparent road rash. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. Her condition was described as "stable."
Police said a witness nearby heard a crash and saw the girl lying in the road.
The witness also saw the vehicle that hit the girl leave the scene, so he got into his car and found the suspect's vehicle nearby. The witness was able to point the vehicle out to officers when they arrived on scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old man, was taken into custody shortly after.

Police said the man failed a series of standard field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital for a toxicology blood draw.
He was later arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury.
