INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman is facing charges after she allegedly broke into the Huntington Bank in downtown Indianapolis for fun before assaulting a police officer.

The 33-year-old woman was arrested for burglary, battery of an officer and possession of paraphernalia.

According to court documents, on Wednesday, Aug. 7 shortly after 5:30 a.m., an IMPD officer was called to the Huntington Bank located at 45 North Pennsylvania Street in downtown Indianapolis on a report of a business alarm.

When the officer arrived, he found a woman allegedly sitting in the middle of the teller's station behind the desk. There was reportedly no damage done to the doors behind the teller desk and an unopened bag of chips was found behind the teller's station.

The officer reportedly made eye contact with the woman and motioned for her to come outside. Court documents say the woman willingly came outside the bank to speak with the officer.

The woman was wearing a black shirt that said "Huntington" and was also holding a green Huntington money bag in her hand when she came to meet the officer, according to court documents.

When the officer asked the woman what she was doing, the woman allegedly told the officer that she worked security for the bank and that she was shadowing someone on her first day. Court documents note there was no one else inside the bank at the time of the incident.

The officer then arrested the woman and noted the woman was in possession of a black drawstring backpack, the green Huntington money bag and computer cleaning wipes and spray that she had taken from the bank.

Court documents say that when the officer was reading the woman her Miranda rights, the woman allegedly kicked the officer in the shin and began threatening the officer, saying "I will knock your (expletive) ass out!"

When the officer put the woman in leg shackles to get her to stop kicking at him, she allegedly still continued to try to kick the officer.

Court documents say when the officer asked the woman why she broke into the bank, she allegedly told the officer she got a "weird satisfaction" that if she broke into the bank she would get a lot of money. She also allegedly said she just wanted to rob the bank.

When officers searched the woman's drawstring backpack and allegedly found a pipe with residue, believed to be some sort of narcotic. Court documents do not describe what the substance was.
