INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man is charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his son during a physical altercation.

According to recently released court documents, shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, June 14, IMPD officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a home in the 3500 block of Dogie Road, which is near North Tibbs Avenue and West Washington Street on Indy's west side.

The 911 caller allegedly told the dispatcher he saw his friend be stabbed by his friend's own father.

When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Christopher Lisby on the floor of the living room severely bleeding with a wound to his chest. Officers on the scene detained 59-year-old Timothy Lisby in connection with the incident.

Court documents say that a responding officer's bodycam captured footage of Timothy standing up from the floor while saying, "He's gone, he's gone. It was outside, it was outside. We don't know," after being asked who had the knife.

The officer's bodycam reportedly showed the officer tending to Christopher and asking who stabbed him. Court documents say Christopher told the officer a stranger had stabbed him in the chest.

The witness rebuked this, according to court documents, and allegedly told officers Timothy was the one who stabbed Christopher following a physical altercation and that Christopher told police a stranger did it to keep his father from going back to prison.

Detectives investigated the home and found a silver utility knife on the living room floor where Christopher was found. Court documents say detectives also found a green hospital gown, a bloody bag, a spoon and a bottle of vodka.

According to court documents, the witness told police they'd met Christopher around seven years ago while the two were in jail and had been friends ever since. The witness reportedly moved in with Christopher and Timothy at the Dogie Road address around Christmas 2023 and that they had not witnessed any problems between the two.

The witness described the day of the stabbing to police, noting them and Christopher had stayed at the house all day and that Timothy had left earlier to visit Horizon House, a hardware store and a liquor store. When Timothy returned home, he reportedly took out a bottle of vodka from his bag and became upset by the house's messy kitchen.

Court documents say the witness told police Timothy and Christopher then got into a physical fight and fell to the floor before Timothy began trying to stab Christopher with the tip of a spoon's handle. Timothy then allegedly stood up, grabbed a "silver object" and thrust it toward Christopher, stabbing him in the chest.

The witness told police Timothy apologized to Christopher while trying to help his stab wound, insisting Christopher "not die on him." Timothy reportedly used a green hospital gown that was nearby to apply pressure to the wound.

According to court documents, Christopher told the witness to tell police he was stabbed by a stranger trying to steal his bike. The witness allegedly told police he wanted to go along with Christopher's story, but felt telling the truth was the right thing to do.

Christopher was transported to Eskenazi Hospital for emergency surgery. He reportedly suffered a laceration to his heart. Unfortunately, roughly 24 hours later, Christopher was pronounced dead at 4:25 p.m. June 15. The coroner ruled Christopher's death a homicide.

Timothy has been charged with murder. His pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. and his jury trial is tentatively set for Sep. 9 at 8:30 a.m.
