INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man is wanted on three felony charges after allegedly beating a man and leaving him for dead at an east side gas station.

Anthony S. Tucker, 36, has a warrant out for his arrest for felony armed robbery, battery with a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to recently released court documents, around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, IMPD officers responded to the Shell gas station located at 3801 East New York Street on a report of an injured person who was bleeding from his head.

When officers arrived, they found a man laying on the floor of the gas station with several lacerations and head injuries.

Court documents say the man told police he was at his home on Sherman Drive when several people allegedly came into his home and pistol-whipped him while demanding money. The man allegedly told police a man named "Vegas" knocked on his door. When the man went to open the door, "Vegas" and two others, a man described as being in his 40s and another described as being in his late 20s, rushed the house and began hitting him with guns.

The man said he did not give the intruders and money and did not think that they took anything. Court documents say that after the intruders left, the man was able to make his way to the Shell gas station to ask for help. After telling his story to police, he was then taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

Police later visited the man's house on Sherman Drive, the court documents read. Officers reportedly found the door to the house was open and blood was smeared on the front porch. No other occupants were found in the house, but court documents say that there was a "large amount of blood" on a pillow and that items had been knocked over and broken.

Back at Methodist Hospital, court documents say prior to his CT scan, the victim was able to tell a different officer what happened. He reiterated that three men all rushed his house and beat him. He referenced one of the men being named "Vegas" and identified another a "Slim," but did not know the name of the third man.

The man said it was "Slim" who struck him multiple times in the head with a handgun. Police were unable to acquire more information as the man was slipping in and out of consciousness.

IMPD began searching for people who frequent the east side and are known by the name of "Slim." Eventually, police were able to match the identity of "Slim" to that of Tucker. Once police confirmed Tucker was the prime suspect, they also discovered Tucker had a federal warrant for firearms possession.

A few days later, on Aug. 22, an officer returned to Methodist Hospital to check in with the victim. The man confirmed everything he had told police the day of the incident, adding that Tucker was carrying two handguns and that the unidentified person also had a handgun during the incident. The man also said that Tucker began striking him with the handgun when he attempted to defend himself.

Court documents say the man suffered a broken hand, fractured neck, two broken ribs and serious injury to his left orbital bone, which had turned his left eye blood red.

The officer gave the man a series of photo arrays to help identify if Tucker was indeed "Slim." The man said he recognized one of the men in the photo array to be Tucker, but noted that he had a different beard and hair style in the photo. However, the man was able to tell it was Tucker by recognizing his eyes and nose.
