IMPD arrests 4, including 15-year-old, in robberies of 6 businesses

Police said all four suspects admitted to their roles in the robberies.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD on Monday announced the arrests of four people, including a 15-year-old, in connection with their alleged roles in a series of armed robberies in Indianapolis.

On Thursday, July 18, officers were called to the Dollar Tree store in the 3500 block of East Washington Street, near North Sherman Drive on the city's near east side, for a reported armed robbery.

Officers were told two males entered the store and took the cash drawer from employees at gunpoint before leaving in a sedan that was waiting outside.

Detectives determined the car had also been used in a July 13 robbery of a Food Corner Pantry store in the 3100 block of Kentucky Avenue, near Mann Road on Indianapolis' southwest side.

Police located the suspect car not far from the Dollar Tree store and pulled it over. The 15-year-old ran from the car but was taken into custody, along with three men – ages 21, 23 and 25 – who were inside the vehicle, police said.

In the car, detectives found three guns, clothing and the money that had been stolen from the Dollar Tree. The clothing and other items found in the car linked the suspects to five additional robberies:

  • June 4: Robbery of GoLo gas station in the 2000 block of East Washington Street
  • June 27: Armed robbery of Speedway gas station in the 8200 block of Allisonville Road
  • July 8: Armed robbery of Dairy Queen in the 3900 block of East 10th Street
  • July 9: Armed robbery of Shell gas station in the 3800 block of East New York Street
  • July 13: Armed robbery of Food Corner Pantry in the 3100 block of Kentucky Avenue

The four suspects were arrested on preliminary armed robbery charges. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make final charging decisions in the case.
