INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD arrested a 22-year-old man Monday for his alleged role in a shooting and attempted robbery investigation near the downtown Indianapolis canal.
Around 4:30 a.m. May 28, IMPD officers responded to the 900 block of North Senate Avenue, near 10th Street, on a report of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they said they found a man who had been shot. IMPD said the victim was transported to the hospital, and his condition was described as "stable."
Shortly after officers arrived on scene, Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) officers informed IMPD dispatch that, just after the shooting, they saw possible suspects fleeing northbound.
IUPD officers were able to detain one of them.
IMPD said detectives then responded to the scene to investigate and learned that the shooting had taken place near the 600 block of Canal Walk, near Indiana Avenue and West Michigan Street, following an attempted robbery of the victim. Police said the person detained by IUPD was interviewed by detectives and later released.

Detectives continued to investigate and were ultimately able to identify 22-year-old Nathanial Price, of Indianapolis, as the alleged suspect.
Prosecutors charged Price with armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
IMPD said Price was already in custody, serving time for a parole violation, when these charges were filed.
