INDIANA, USA — A quick hitting wintry mix of rain and some snow will arrive after dark across central Indiana. There may be minor accumulations leading to some slick spots early Thanksgiving morning.

This is not a snow storm, but we may see some snowy slush on the ground (less than 1 inch) across parts of central Indiana. As the rain changes to snow tonight, air temperatures will be above freezing in the mid 30s. Most snowflakes will melt upon contact with the roads.
Snowy roads checklist
(Note: "x" means we do not have this, "+" means we do have this)
- X cold road temperatures (roads are fairly warm still)
- X just snow (we think rain will be mixing in a lot at times)
- + brief heavy snowfall rates in spots
The only thing that could lead to some slick spots will be the fact that temporarily we could get some big snowflakes and the rate will increase. The snow could be briefly heavy in spots.
However, since rain will be mixing in with the snow, accumulation on roads will be tough. Generally expect wet roads tonight and Thanksgiving morning, but watch for some slick spots. Overpasses and bridges have some of the highest chances for slick spots, especially near the shoulder of the road.
Road forecast
Most roads across Indiana will be fine waking up Thanksgiving Thursday morning. However, watch for slick spots in the yellow zones.
- Green: Roads are okay. Many will be wet to the south, but some roads may be dry to the north.
- Yellow: Many roads are fine, but watch out for some slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses, and some rural roads
The yellow in central Indiana is due to a mix of rain and snow Wednesday night.
The yellow in northern Indiana is due to some lake-effect snow showers that will start to develop after 4 a.m.
Some of these snow showers could cause slick spots in Michiana. A few of these may be able to push south into central Indiana.
By the afternoon
The yellow and green map above is only for the morning. If we do get some lake-effect snow showers Thanksgiving afternoon, especially north and east of Indianapolis, there could be additional slick spots later in the day.
