INDIANAPOLIS — The morning round of rain and storms continues to push south with drier air briefly building in.
During the dry period today, it'll still be hot and humid with temperatures recovering to the upper 80s. This will allow the atmosphere to recover and help fuel storm development later today as a cold front moves in. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but a few strong storms will be possible through this evening with damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall leading to localized flooding.
What is the timeline for storms later today?
Storms will likely fire up by the late afternoon and continue to grow in coverage area through the evening.
Are there any more storm chances tomorrow?
Scattered storms continue into Wednesday morning as the cold front continues to move through. Outside of a few lingering storms along and south of the I-70 corridor Wednesday, most of central Indiana will be dry. Temperatures will be more seasonal in the low to mid-80s for highs.
A more refreshing air mass takes over behind the front later in the day on Wednesday and will continue through the end of the work week. Highs on Thursday and Friday will be below average in the upper 70s.
Overnight low temperatures drop into the upper 50s for Thursday through Saturday mornings. The pattern looks quiet and sunny through the weekend for the Brickyard events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Temperatures warm up slightly for the weekend with highs back in the low to mid-80s.
