INDIANAPOLIS — As construction crews close 146th Street and Allisonville Road in Noblesville for a 90-day project, all residents and businesses will see is orange cones.
"It's a big project, they are building on the side of the bridge. It's really a lot of work," Steve Renner, owner of Renner's Body Works said.
For the next 90 days, crews will transform this intersection into an interchange. It's all designed to cut down on backups in this location.
"This closure is to get a lot of work done in those 90 days, so we don't have to do it under traffic," Brandi Tarner, administrative assistant for the Hamilton County Highway Department said. "This is going to be the substantial amount of work that will get us ready to build the bridge on Allisonville Road."
Drivers will need to take a detour on 131st Street, SR 37 and Greenfield Avenue. 146th Street will remain open during the project, but the speed limit drops to 35 miles per hour.
The detour will take drivers through various subdivisions, where they will need to slow down.
County officials urge every driver to leave early, pay attention to the car in front of you and obey all traffic signs.
Renner's plans to stay open during this project and encourages drivers to stop by when going down 146th Street.
"It'll be a headache for them, but hopefully I can make it worth their while," Renner said.
County officials plan for the project to be done by Memorial Day.
