GREENWOOD, Ind. — Greenwood officials are investigating after a person was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:15 a.m. Aug. 14, a Greenwood Fire Department spokesperson said officials responded to a report of a crash involving a semi and car at the intersection of Graham and Allen roads, which is in an industrial area near the Nestle Waters warehouse.
Shortly after their arrival on scene, first responders pronounced the driver, 32-year-old Irish Smith, of Indianapolis, dead.
The Johnson County Coroner's Office is now working to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
The fire department spokesperson said the intersection is in a "warehouse district," so there is typically lots of traffic overnight for deliveries, especially with semis.
No other injuries were reported from the scene. Officials expect the road to remain closed for a couple of hours during the investigation.
