Inside the Huddle: Indianapolis Colts prepare for 'gritty' New Orleans Saints

13Sports director Dave Calabro and Indianapolis Colts defensive end DeForest Buckner preview the team's Week 8 matchup against the Saints.

INDIANAPOLIS — The big headline in Indy heading into week eight of the NFL season is the league acknowledging blown calls during last week's Colts/Browns matchup

13Sports director Dave Calabro and Colts defensive end DeForest Buckner talked about what happened during last week's game.

"It's just tough, but it's nothing we can control," Buckner said. "Honestly, we shouldn't have even been in that situation as a team. We just gotta move on."

Dave then asked Buckner about the "no quit" attitude displayed by the team so far this season and what changed during the offseason to create a new culture that never backs down.

"It's the mentality," Buckner said. "It's the culture Shane [Steichen] has really brought over and tried to instill in us since OTAs."

"Guys bought into the culture, and we come in every day trying to give ourselves a chance each and every week," Buckner said.

The Colts defense has looked good so far this season, but Dave wanted to know if the team feels good about where they are at this point during the season.

"We're playing well at times," Buckner said. "We've still got a lot of things we need to pick up."

Buckner also mentioned that red zone situations have been a point of emphasis for the team, as they weren't happy with the amount of touchdowns they allowed against the Browns.

Continuing to chat about the defense, Dave brings up the solid play from Zaire Franklin so far this season.

"He's just playing aggressive," Buckner said in regards to his teammate.

Looking ahead to Sunday's game against the Saints, Buckner described the team as "gritty" despite having lost two games in a row.

"We know that we gotta come out there firing on all cylinders, playing complementary football," Buckner said.

"We've got Jonathin Perez. He's a fourth grader, he loves to play a lot of sports, including wheelchair basketball, so keep hoopin' buddy!" Buckner said.
