INDIANAPOLIS — The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is offering free admission for their Fiesta de la Familia celebrations on Sunday, Sept. 15.
In addition to free admission, there will also be more activities and programs, beyond the museum's normal offerings.
The museum says the Fiesta de la Familia is "a celebration of Latin American cultures."
What will be there?
Families attending will get to make Guatemalan Worry Dolls. The museum says the dolls will remove your worries if you place them under your pillow, at least according to folklore.
There will also be Panamanian Molas. These are colorful textiles made by the Guna people on the San Blas Islands in the Caribbean Sea, just north of Panama.
You will also be invited to take family photos, and then decorate a frame to highlight your family and traditions.
There will be Mexican Metal Art, where you can make your own art while learning about metal tooling.
You'll also get a chance to learn about Tanta Wawa, a tradition of making bread that originates in Peru.
There will also be a free flu clinic provided by Riley Children's Health. They will provide vaccines to anyone 6 months and up, while supplies last.
How do I take part?
The Fiesta de la Familia runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. Attendance is free, but you need to reserve a spot ahead of time to attend. Click here to sign up!
