Richmond teens arrested after attack on unhoused person, vandalism

Police used witnesses and surveillance video to track down three teens after attack and damage.

RICHMOND, Ind. — Richmond police are withholding the names of three teens arrested for allegedly attacking an unhoused man who was sleeping in a parking garage. 

Police spoke with witnesses, reviewed surveillance video and used forensic evidence to track down the teens they say are responsible. 

“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of our community, including our most vulnerable,” said Chief Kyle Weatherly. “This arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers, and the cooperation of our community members. We truly see the power we all have to make this city great when we work together”.

Richmond police are working with local social service groups to provide services to the city's unhoused population. 

Police are asking anyone with more information on the attack or the vandalism to call their non-emergency number.
