Coroner identifies 18-year-old victim of early morning shooting north of Martinsville

The shooting happened in the 1100 block of Robb Hill Road shortly after midnight Sunday.

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — The Morgan County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating after an 18-year-old was shot to death north of Martinsville early Sunday morning.

Just after 12:30 a.m. Sept. 15, police say there was a shootout at a home on Robb Hill Road, near Brooklyn Fire Station 42. 

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, one man was hit and got in a car and drove away. He made it down Robb Hill Road to the intersection with State Roads 39 and 142, where he died from his injury. 

Sunday afternoon, the Morgan County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Thawng Tha Sang.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office says no arrests have been made, but law enforcement believes this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. 

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Josh Sparrow with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. You can remain anonymous, and earn a reward if your information leads to an arrest in the case.
