INDIANAPOLIS — One person is in critical condition following a shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Friday night.
According to a release from IMPD, shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sept. 13, officers responded to the 3900 block of North Sherman Drive, which is near 38th Street, on a report of a person shot and a crash.
When officers arrived, they found one victim, an adult male, who had been shot. Police say he was last reported to be in critical condition.
An IMPD spokesperson at the scene said investigators believe the occupants of two vehicles were engaged in a gun battle. One of the vehicles involved struck a vehicle that wasn't involved in the incident, injuring the female driver. She was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, with her condition being described as "stable."
Police said the intersection of East 38th Street and North Sherman Drive was closed for a couple of hours as police continued their investigation.
