The victim, who had a gunshot wound to his back, was taken to Marion Health hospital and later Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition, police said.

A person who had been with the victim said they were looking for a house when someone they didn't know began shooting at their car, and police said in a statement that "the vehicle showed that a bullet entered the rear of the vehicle and traveled through it to (the victim's) back."

When executing a search warrant at the home on East 27th Street, police found eight people, including minors. A Marion Police Department spokesperson said officers also found more than five pounds of marijuana, a "large amount" of psilocybin mushrooms, several guns and spent cartridge casings.

The Marion Police Department said the case remains under investigation, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Capt. Josh Zigler or Crime Stoppers at 765-662-8477.
