INDIANAPOLIS — Tyreana Terrell was known by her family and friends to be their best hype girl.
But that was all taken away from them when she was shot and killed in a northwest Indianapolis gas station parking lot on West 56th Street and Georgetown Road around 1:45 a.m. July 9.
"I just can't believe she's gone," cried Becky Byrd, Tyreana's mom. "It's just senseless for her to be gone."
Byrd said her daughter just turned 21 last month.
As for the 22-year-old who is alleged to have shot and killed her, Byrd said she's never met him and doesn't know what he and Tyreana were arguing about.
"It was coward-like. It was senseless. Like, you didn't even think. You didn't care. It was shameful. It was heartless," Byrd said.
Byrd said Tyreana was the oldest of six children and the mother to a 3-year-old little boy, Alegend.
"I just hurt for him to even have to go through this and live the rest of his life without his mom," Byrd said.
Tyreana's family said her visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27 at Sprowl Funeral and Cremation Care.
On Tuesday, July 16, the 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody in the 3100 block of Thompkins Square Court, near 38th Street and North Sherman Drive, and arrested on a preliminary murder charge.
(NOTE: 13News does not identify suspects until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)
