4 weeks after probation sentence, Indianapolis man is caught searching for more child sex abuse material

Detectives said they found an unauthorized cellphone, with searches of more than 2,000 images and videos containing sexually explicit conduct involving minors.

INDIANAPOLIS — A U.S. district judge sentenced an Indianapolis man to more than 11 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of child sex abuse material.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Tyler Edward Davis was previously convicted in Marion County of two counts of possession of child sex abuse material in August 2022.

Court documents say four weeks into his probation period and just over a week after David registered as a sex offender, probation officers conducted a field visit and found he had a cellphone that hadn't been approved.

One of the probation officers checked the search history on that cellphone, which showed searches of "8-year-old bikini models" and "underground content."

According to a release from the United States Department of Justice, Davis removed his GPS ankle bracelet and fled after the probation officer found and searched the cellphone.

Court documents say a more thorough examination of the cellphone found searches of more than 2,000 images and videos containing sexually explicit conduct involving minors, including adult men raping toddlers.

"Not even one month after being sentenced to probation for possession of child sexual abuse material, the defendant began collecting more heinous material, including images depicting the graphic sexual abuse of toddlers," said Zachary A. Myers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. "There is no higher law enforcement priority than protecting our children from those who would do them harm. We will continue to work closely with our partners at the FBI to hold child sex offenders accountable and removing them from our communities."

After he is released from prison, the judge ruled that Davis must be supervised for the rest of his life.
