KOKOMO, Ind. — A former Taylor High School teacher is facing a charge of vicarious sexual gratification with a child under 14.
Charles Jansen, of Kokomo, was the language arts teacher when the alleged acts occurred.
According to court documents, one of the alleged victims discussed during marriage counseling what he claimed Jansen did when he was a student. The man's ex-wife claims she learned of three other student victims of Jansen.
The man told investigators Jansen befriended him and offered to help him with college applications back between 2006 and 2008. From there, the former student claimed Jansen purchased his old football jerseys and shoes. Then, the former student claims Jansen began asking for the former student to smash Jansen's sandwiches, spit in his drinks and urinate in bottles for money.
Another former student allegedly reported Jansen paying for similar acts back in 2011. When that former student reported it to the school, the court documents claim Jansen's employment was terminated.
A Department of Child Services report was done, which included text messages from Jansen to the then-student, but no criminal charges were filed.
In July 2023, a child of one of the former students was interviewed at the Howard County Department of Child Services. That child claimed Jansen would tell the child to urinate in a cup for him.
Court documents claim Jansen was confronted by a person about the alleged acts with former students. The confrontation happened where Jansen worked at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kokomo and was allegedly recorded. Police claim Jansen did not deny any of the accusations. Police said Jansen could be heard confessing to having several young men put semen in bottles for him, but allegedly said it happened while they were not students.
Court documents allege Jansen could be heard making statements that he was sorry for how he made a former student feel and that he had changed.
