GREENWOOD, Ind. — A judge sentenced a 50-year-old Greenwood man after he pleaded guilty to four counts of child molesting.
William Jayson Adams' total sentence is 32 years, 24 of which will be served at the Indiana Department of Correction, followed by eight years on probation.
He must also register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender evaluation.
The family of the victims were satisfied with the plea agreement, which meant their children did not have to testify in a trial. All of the victims and their parents were at the sentencing hearing Monday, April 22.
The Johnson County Prosecutor's Office said Adams had no prior convictions, and he fully cooperated with the investigation.
"There is no more despicable breach of trust than that of a family member. For that, Adams will spend the last days of his life in prison," Deputy Prosecutor Carrie Miles said.
Prosecutor Lance Hamner was also pleased with the sentencing decision.
"A person who molests children must be locked up — for a long, long time. This is how we keep our little ones safe from predators," Hamner said.
