WASHINGTON D.C., DC — A mom from Fishers, Indiana has been charged for allegedly taking part in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Annie Vo faces four charges:
- Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds
- Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds
- Disorderly conduct in a Capitol building
- Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building
According to federal prosecutors, the charges stem from photos Vo's son, Antony, posted that showed the two together in the Capitol. (Antony was sentenced to nine months in prison in April for his role in the riots.) The girlfriend of one of Antony's fraternity brothers at Indiana University told police about the photos.
Investigators say Antony sent Facebook and Instagram messages about being in the Capitol that day with his mother. One alleged message read "My mom and I helped stop the vote count for a bit." At least twice, investigators say Antony said they "stormed" the Capitol.
Cellphone data also allegedly showed that Vo was at the Capitol the day of the riot.
The court documents also include multiple frames of surveillance video, allegedly showing Antony and Vo walking through the Capitol during the insurrection. At several points, they allegedly stopped for photos with rioters inside the Capitol building.
Charges were filed against Vo in March but were initially sealed. They were unsealed when she was arrested. She was released ahead of trial and was allowed to attend her son's sentencing.
