INDIANAPOLIS — A man and a woman from Indianapolis have been charged with theft and banned from all Target stores in Marion County after recently released court documents say they conspired to steal Pokemon cards and other merchandise from a north side Target store.

Eric Bishop and Portia Coffenberry are both charged with one count each of felony theft with a prior conviction.

According to recently released court documents, around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, Bishop and Coffenberry entered the Target store located at 6101 North Keystone Avenue on Indy's north side. The two were reportedly watched by a loss prevention officer during their time in the store.

Court documents say when the couple entered the store, Coffenberry went to the restroom while Bishop picked up five boxes of Pokemon trading cards, three valued at $49.99 and two at $54.99. Bishop then walked toward the beauty department and allegedly opened one of the $54.99 boxes.

Bishop allegedly put the cards into his front pocket and left the empty box on a nearby shelf.

Coffenberry then reportedly left the restroom and went to meet back up with Bishop in the chemical department of the store. Court documents say the two later went to the kitchen department where Bishop opened one of the $49.99 boxes of Pokemon cards, put the cards in his backpack and again left the empty box on a nearby shelf.

After leaving the kitchen section, court documents say the two went to the travel department of the store where Bishop again allegedly opened one of the boxes, pocketed the trading cards and left the empty box on a nearby shelf. The couple then went to the toy aisle where court documents say Bishop allegedly concealed four boxes of Pokemon cards, valued at $24.99 each, in his backpack while Coffenberry took twelve packs of Pokemon cards, two valued at $4.99 and ten valued at $9.99, and concealed them in her purse.

Court documents say Coffenberry also took a trading card binder valued at $24.99 out of its packaging and held it in her hand as she continued to walk around the store. While in the electronics department of the store, Coffenberry allegedly took a $14.99 pop socket.

The two then reportedly exited the store and the loss prevention officer called police. Bishop and Coffenberry were detained while leaving a nearby restaurant. Court documents say the total value of the Pokemon cards taken by Bishop was $359.91 while the Pokemon cards, binder and Pop Socket allegedly stolen by Coffenberry were valued at $199.76 total.

Online court records say both Bishop and Coffenberry's initial hearings are scheduled for Aug. 12 at 8:30 a.m.
