INDIANAPOLIS — Central Indiana has received a significant amount of rainfall over the past 24 hours with the Indy metro reporting over 2 inches. This had lead to lots of localized flooding, travel issues, and flood alerts.
- FLOOD WARNING: Through 11 a.m. from Morgan County to Rush County
- FLOOD WATCH: Through the late afternoon for all of central Indiana
We're still in the "warm sector" of this weather system, which allows temperatures to recover to near 70 this afternoon ahead of the cold front moving in.
- SEVERE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON: When the boundary arrives, another round of showers and storms will be possible. Some storms could be severe. Non-thunderstorm wind gusts will also push 40 mph at times today.
- TUESDAY STORM TIMELINE: Between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
- SEVERE THREATS: Damaging wind gusts, hail and rotating storms can't be ruled out
- HIGHEST THREAT: Southeastern Indiana
INDIANS HOME OPENER: Rain exiting, mainly cloudy and breezy. Temperatures dropping quickly into the 50s.
OVERNIGHT: A major temperature drop with lows Wednesday morning falling into the mid 30s.
WEDNESDAY MID-MORNING: Moisture will wrap around the backside of this system and will prompt a wintry mix across the northern tier of the state with scattered rain showers elsewhere. Scattered showers will be likely through the day.
Highs will be limited to the upper 30s, near 40 Wednesday afternoon. It'll be a blustery day as well with strong wind gusts up to 40 mph at times.
THURSDAY: This system will be slow to depart and even keeps a chance for a few rain/mixed showers around through the first part of the day Thursday — with morning lows near freezing and highs struggling to hit the 40-degree mark.
7 DAY OUTLOOK: We'll dry out for the remainder of the week but keep the unseasonably cool air around with lows near freezing and highs only in the upper 40s Friday. We'll bring back sunshine and more seasonal temperatures for the weekend with highs in the 50s.
ECLIPSE OUTLOOK: It's still an early look, but there is a chance of a stray shower late Sunday through early Monday. Looking partly cloudy and warmer with highs in the low 60s.
