INDIANA, USA — After such an unsettled week with on-and-off storm chances, we have one more round to go today. Lower pressure will push scattered showers and downpours from north to south Friday afternoon and evening. It will not rain all day, but the chance will continue at times with breaks in between.

Severe threats look very low, but not zero. A storm or two in eastern Indiana may have some gusty winds. The bigger threat may be the heavy rainfall. Downpours are likely to move fairly slowly. If you do get a downpour, it could dump a lot of rain. Yesterday some spots across Indiana picked up over 4 inches in just a few hours.

Not everyone will get a storm today, but everyone has a chance. However, who has the greatest chance. Let's chat rain zones.

Tracking rain zones

Friday afternoon

Most of Indiana at least has a small chance for some rain. The most widespread rain cells will likely be in central and eastern Indiana. The closer you are to the Indiana - Ohio state line, your rain chance goes up. 60% means there will be a decent amount of downpours on radar, but not everyone will necessarily get one.

Friday evening

Much of the state still has a chance for some showers, storms, and downpours for the evening, but the concentration for rain will gradually push east. Over time the cells will become more hit-or-miss.

Friday night

After dark, the rain chances will really dwindle. Temperatures will cool down, cutting off additional storm development. There may still be some lingering showers in far eastern Indiana.

Weather setup

Friday is the last widespread rain chance for a few days. A low pressure inside the NW flow is pushing over Indiana, but is gradually moving toward the East Coast into the weekend. Indiana is still in this unsettled green zone (pictured below), but not for much longer.

As lower pressure leaves, the pressure will rise again over Indiana, bringing more sunshine this weekend.

Weekend forecast

Quieter skies are likely this weekend! It's been a very unsettled week. On Saturday there is only a 10% chance for a shower, mainly for eastern Indiana. Most of the time we will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds.

By Sunday expect mostly sunny weather. Enjoy!

Much of next week looks mostly dry. There may be a stray shower or storm Wednesday. Most days however will be quiet.
