Sunday's rain chances will be the start of unsettled weather likely to last a week. As the jet stream sits over us, combined with this warmer, more humid air surging north, this is a recipe for scattered rain chances. It won't rain constantly the next 6-7 days, but watch for more downpours to fire up with sunshine in between.

Tracking a warm front

The warm front will start entering Indiana early in the morning on Sunday. Once it swings through your neighborhood, your rain chance will go up. Areas south of Indianapolis will get some rain first, while areas north and east of Indianapolis will likely wait later in the day for some scattered rain at times.

Timing out the rain

Sunday morning:  The chance for showers is pretty low Sunday morning across central Indiana. There may be a spotty cell bringing some rain in a few spots, but most Hoosiers within 50 miles of Indianapolis should stay mostly dry. Farther south and west we will start to see a higher rain chance moving in before lunch time.

Sunday afternoon:  This is when the rain will start to pick up at times, especially south of Indianapolis. Scattered shower and even a few weak storms are likely. It won't rain all afternoon, but watch for on-and-off chances.

Looking ahead, watch for more scattered showers and storms this coming week. The highest chances are likely to be Monday, Friday, and then Saturday of the coming weekend.

Every day has a chance of rain, but it won't rain in your neighborhood every day. Keep an eye on the radar!
