INDIANA, USA — Cold air is moving in and setting up shop across Indiana through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend (Thursday, Nov. 28 to Monday, Dec. 2). Heavy lake-effect snow will be possible on the southeast and eastern sides of the Great Lakes, but snow flurries may extend much farther south.

For Indiana, the vast majority of snow the next few days will be in Michiana around South Bend, Elkhart and Michigan City. However, at times with a bit more of a northerly wind, some weaker, leftover snow showers will push south toward Indianapolis, Muncie and Richmond.

3 Main Waves of Flurries to Track
As we watch the wind direction and speed fluctuate, there are opportunities for central Indiana to pick up some snow at times:
- Thursday evening through Friday morning (Nov. 28-29)
- Monday (Dec. 2)
- Wednesday (Dec. 4)
(NOTE: If you don't get flurries during these times, you will likely expect more clouds.)
Central Indiana is not anywhere near the main impact zone for lake-effect snow, but snow showers are possible at times.
Thanksgiving and Black Friday flurries
Not all Hoosiers are guaranteed snow flurries; in fact, most will stay dry. Do not be surprised if you see some snow flurries at times later in the day across northern and eastern Indiana.
These percentages are still on the lower side. Any flurry chances are likely near and after sunset. Not everyone will get snow. If you start seeing some flurries, they should stay light and brief.
The highest chance for some of these isolated snow flurries will be north and east of Indianapolis.
Black Friday snow flurry chances
Thanksgiving's flurries will last on and off Thursday night into Black Friday morning. They will stay hit-or-miss and light.
Most of Friday's flurries will be in the morning. We are expecting some clearing skies later in the day. We should be quiet for the Circle of Lights lighting ceremony in downtown Indianapolis at Monument Circle. Just chilly!
