Rain zones for Sunday | Tracking pop-up showers

One more day of pop up showers is possible Sunday. The coverage of the rain may be a bit more widespread as we wrap up the weekend.

INDIANA, USA — Lower pressure is sitting over the Great Lakes, spinning pop-up, hit-or-miss showers this weekend. The best timing continues to be in the afternoon and evening. On Sunday, expect the coverage of scattered rain may be a bit more widespread.

The low pressure helps to create more puffy clouds, tall enough to drop some rain at times. Severe weather is not expected for Indiana, but some of the showers that form Sunday afternoon could have some heavy downpours, brief gusty winds, and even some thunder.

In between the rain cells, expect at least some sunshine. It will not rain all weekend. Most of the time it will be dry. But watch for unsettled weather in spurts throughout the weekend.

Timing the rain for Sunday

While a stray shower is possible at any time, the vast majority of rain chances will be from 1PM to 9PM. Expect to start the morning with a mix of cloud and sun. More widespread showers will flare up after lunch.

Rain zones on Sunday

Not everyone has an equal chance of rain throughout the day. As the lower pressure marches east, so eventually will the rain zones.

Sunday morning

A stray shower is possible in the morning, but only for a few Hoosiers. If you get some rain, you will be one of the few that do. Most of us should stay fairly dry in the morning. There is a 20% chance for a shower.

The farther south and west you go, the lower the rain chance.

Sunday afternoon

More pop-up showers are likely from 1PM to 9PM on. The highest chance will likely be north and east of Indianapolis, but everyone does have a chance at some rain.
