INDIANA, USA — Indiana's lakes will continue to be busy this weekend as Labor Day brings the unofficial end to the summer season. How are the lakes doing and what's the forecast looking like?

North winds are moving into Indiana for the rest of the weekend, thanks to a cold front pushing south toward the Tennessee River Valley.
LABOR DAY MORNING
It's going to feel a bit chilly in the morning on Monday. A light north wind may add an extra chill to the air, too. Once the sun comes up, it will quickly start to get warmer.
— Temperatures in the 40s and 50s
— Very low humidity
— North winds 10-20 mph
— Mostly clear, few clouds here and there
LABOR DAY AFTERNOON
It will be a very comfortable day! However, out on the lake with nothing to block the wind, it may feel cool at times. Bring the swimsuit, but it may not be a bad idea to have a long-sleeve ready, in case you are staying out on the water well into the evening.
— Temperatures in the 60s and 70s
— North winds 8-18 mph
— Lots of sunshine
LABOR DAY EVENING
As the sun sets, the temperatures will drop quickly. Low humidity and light north winds will help it feel a bit cool out there. Not cold, but a bit cool. You may want a light jacket or a long-sleeve packed just in case.
— Temperatures in the 60s
— North winds 5-12 mph
— Clear skies
Lake levels
How are the lakes doing across Indiana? We sampled some of the levels. We don't have all lakes included, however, they are mostly similar across the state.
The numbers and arrows indicated how much higher (green) or lower (red) water levels are compared to gage height or above low stages. Everything is in feet.
On-and-off rains throughout the summer have kept lakes mostly OK across the state.
Lake Michigan
If you are heading to Lake Michigan, it will feel a bit cool out there with the north wind blowing over the water. Wave heights may be 3 to 5 feet fall in spots. Beach hazard statements and small craft advisories are in place for Labor Day. Rip currents will be possible.
Enjoy! Stay safe! And have fun!
