Where to expect rain across Indiana today | Live Doppler 13 Weather Blog

A cold front is bringing scattered showers and downpours to Indiana. However, not everyone may get rain. Here's the rain zones.

INDIANA, USA — Some rain chances have finally returned to Indiana as a cold front pushes across the Midwest. Not everyone will get rain, but at least there is the opportunity for raindrops!

The rain will not fall equally across the state. Northern Indiana has the highest rain chances in the morning. Rain zones shift south, but also weaken throughout the day.

This is our second rain chance of the entire month. After this, we have one final rain chance on Halloween, Oct. 31. There's a decent chance we have a top five finish for driest Octobers on record for Indianapolis.

This is not a huge rainmaker, so hopefully you get at least enough rain to wet the ground.

Rain zones Friday

These rain zones are designed to show where we think the best chance of rain will be throughout various time periods of the day. It's not a guarantee of rain, but the maps show the likelihood you get a shower or downpour.

Friday morning 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The highest rain chances will be north and west of Indianapolis. The 60% rain chance in dark green is really for 7-10 a.m. Later this morning, expect northern Indiana to gradually dry out with some sunshine later this afternoon and evening. Showers will likely push south and east.

However, many of the rain bands will weaken on their journey south and east.

Friday afternoon 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Rain chances shift south for the afternoon, but the chances will lower. Not everyone is guaranteed rain. The vast majority of rain that is still on the radar will be light.

Friday evening 5-10 p.m.

Most of us should be dry after 5 p.m., however they may still be a sprinkle south and east of Indianapolis as the final wave of clouds pushes through the state. This will not be substantial rain.

Rainfall today

Rain will be hit or miss. Do not expect drought-busting rain. We need 2-5 inches across Indiana to eliminate the drought and we will be nowhere near that.

The farther south you go, the lower the rain chances.
