INDIANAPOLIS — It is Election Day in Indiana, and it would be hard to say that we are winners as far as the weather is concerned. We are looking at two rounds of rain and storms today in Indiana. Between 9 a.m. and noon, we will see thunderstorms roll through Indiana, but those storms will probably not reach severe criteria.
This afternoon, another round of storms will race through the state, and in the forecast discussion this morning, the National Weather Service made the following points:
- Severe storms expected today, especially during the afternoon and evening. All forms of severe hazards are possible.
- Additional severe storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening. All forms of severe hazards are again possible.
- Heavy rain is possible at times through Wednesday night. Localized flooding will also be possible.
- More chances for thunderstorms mainly Thursday and Saturday.
Your WTHR weather team agrees with all these points. On a scale of 1-5, we would be at a level 3, or an elevated risk of severe weather. It looks like the biggest threat would be heavy rain, damaging winds and even the possibility of tornadoes.

Look for a high of 80 today, 82 tomorrow with storms around and then, as we get closer to the weekend, the weather substantially cools down. Friday's high will be just 63 degrees.
