INDIANAPOLIS — Summertime temperatures are in play for the next few days, with highs running 10 degrees above average for this time of year. For today, highs will push the mid-80s under a mix of sun and clouds. Keep in mind that starting today, sunset will be at 9 p.m. and will continue to be after 9 p.m. through the end of July.
We'll see a quick warming trend tomorrow morning, with highs in the mid-80s ahead of a cold front.
The cold front will sink south from the Great Lakes region and will prompt clouds to develop, as well as the chance of a stray shower after 4 p.m. Skies will clear in the evening as winds shift from the northeast, ushering in a cooler, drier air mass.
This cooler air mass settles in for Thursday, with morning lows in the upper 40s and highs in the low 70s.
It'll be a cool start to Carb Day, with morning lows Friday in the mid-40s. Pleasant conditions continue throughout the day, with seasonal highs in the mid-70s with a mix of sun and clouds.
We're watching the outlook for race weekend closely as an upper level low pressure system will be meandering across the Mid-South into the Ohio Valley region. While there isn't much moisture associated with this system, its track could bring stray shower chances to the area starting on Sunday, continuing into Memorial Day.
Temperatures will likely stay in the 70s for Race Day and warm back into the 80s for the first part of next week.
