INDIANAPOLIS — Don't be surprised if you're awakened by the sound of thunder or heavy rain tonight. As of just before 11 p.m. there are some heavy storms in parts of the WTHR viewing area, with much greater coverage in Illinois.

Our local atmosphere is rather moist and supportive of heavy rain rates, prolific lightning, and possibly severe hail in stronger storms that can sustain updrafts tonight.

The amount of coverage and strength remains uncertain on the storms drifting this direction from Illinois. We're also expecting a storm complex coming out of Nebraska/Iowa to arrive here in some fashion Monday morning.

Again, the exact time and track is uncertain, but there's potential of some disruptive rain and thunder around before midday.

We're going to be monitoring the atmosphere and severe weather parameters rather closely Monday afternoon. The probability of storms becoming severe is much higher after midday Monday and all modes of severe weather will be possible, including tornadoes.

It's a highly fluid situation and how the upstream overnight complex evolves plays a big piece in our local weather puzzle tomorrow. Please be Weather Aware and check back for updates.
