INDIANAPOLIS — A more summer-like set-up begins today with above average temperatures and a more humid air mass taking over through early next week.
TODAY:
Mid to upper 80s this afternoon, average high for today is 75. Dry and sunny with fair weather clouds developing during the heat of the day. Feeling more muggy with dew points ranging from 62-65 degrees. Anything over 60 degree gives a humid feel to the air.
A stalled boundary across northern Indiana could prompt a stray storm this evening.
MONDAY:
Muggy but dry with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the upper 80s. A weak wave will pass through Monday evening and could prompt a few showers or storms after 6 p.m. and fizzle out during the overnight hours.
TUESDAY:
Lots of dry hours as the heat and humidity continues with highs in the upper 80s.
When will this summer-like pattern come to an end?
Things begin changing as our next weather system approaches late Tuesday. A few storms will develop during the overnight hours into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will be the most active day this week as a cold front prompts more widespread storm chances. A few strong to severe storms can't be ruled out Wednesday evening.
Behind the front on Thursday, temperatures will be more seasonal and the humidity level drops back into the comfortable zone. Look for highs in the mid 70s next Thursday and into the upper 70s Friday for Carb Day.
We'll see mainly dry conditions with the exception of a stray shower lingering across the far southern tier of the state closer to the Ohio River Valley.
