INDIANAPOLIS — Showers and thunderstorms have been developing this morning along a boundary. Because of all the moisture in the atmosphere, heavy rain has been falling in west and north central Indiana. The storms are holding together as they push east. No severe weather is expected, but heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds are likely.
It will be another hot and steamy day. Temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s this afternoon.
Heat indices will be in the upper 90s and triple digits.
A Heat Advisory is in effect now through midnight tonight.
Another round of showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight after midnight. Some of those storms could be severe.
Damaging winds will be the main threat, but large hail will be possible, too.
Areas along and north of I-70 will be the main areas for thunderstorms through mid to late morning.
Temperatures will only fall into the mid-70s overnight, and storms are likely in the northern part of the viewing area Saturday morning.
There will be many dry hours Saturday. It will be hot and humid, with afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
The boundary that triggered the morning storms will trigger more storms late afternoon Saturday into mid-evening. The best area for storms will be along and south of I-70.
The winds will shift out of the north on Sunday. Humidity will start to fall, and it will feel much better. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-80s with mostly sunny skies.
