INDIANAPOLIS — It will be a windy Thursday evening with some clearing.
Clouds return quickly with our next weather system. This system will bring snow showers to central Indiana on Friday. The timeline for snow is late morning through Friday evening. We are forecasting 1-2 inches of snow. A few higher totals of 3-plus inches are possible along and south of I-70.
The timing is tough due to the evening events for All Star Weekend, but we do have a couple of things working in our favor. The first is pavement temperatures. They are above freezing. This will help to melt the snow as it falls. The snow will also fall during daylight hours with highs forecast just above freezing. With this combination we expect roads to be mainly wet. There will be one exception and this is where the heaviest snow falls. It will be heavy enough to cause some slushy accumulations on some roads. It is a good idea to allow extra travel time on Friday and Friday night. Here is the timeline:
The weather issue Friday night and early Saturday will be single digit wind chills.
Saturday will be the coldest of the weekend with highs only in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Expect some sunshine this weekend and it will be warmer on Sunday with highs in the 40s.
We have a day near 60 degrees next week.
