INDIANAPOLIS — Our next chance of precipitation arrives this evening as an area of low pressure lifts northeast. The storm track of this system has shifted significantly south though, keeping all frozen precipitation chances at bay across Kentucky and into parts of southern Ohio. Due to this, a Winter Weather Advisory has been posted through Tuesday morning just south of central Indiana, impacting only the farthest south counties of the state.
Temperatures will be well above freezing in the mid-40s as this rain moves in. This will be mainly south after 5 p.m.
The timing of this system also sped up, so all moisture exits the state and pushes east by midnight. Skies will clear overnight into Tuesday morning and low temperatures drop to near 30 degrees.
We'll then see a more quiet setup through the middle of the week, with partly to mainly sunny skies and highs in the low 40s Tuesday and near 50 Wednesday for Valentine's Day.
We've got a couple of weak waves that are possible both Thursday and Friday. Temperatures remain unseasonably mild with highs in the upper 40s near 50 on Thursday as a quick round of rain showers moves through during the first part of the day.
There is a little more uncertainty with Friday's system, which will bring in colder air and a chance of a light wintry mix late in the day. High temperatures will likely only be in the upper 30s, near 40 Friday. All Star Weekend starts cold, with highs in the mid to upper 30s Saturday after a chance of stray snow early in the day. Sun and highs in the low 40s return for Sunday.
