INDIANAPOLIS — Today will be a dry day with partly cloudy skies and temperatures topping out in the upper 40s. That's still above average for this time of year by about 10 degrees. We're looking good for party plans if you're celebrating the big game tonight with temperatures dropping into the low 40s/upper 30s.
Our next chance of precipitation will arrive tomorrow afternoon as an area of low pressure lifts north. Temperatures will be well above freezing in the mid 40s as this rain moves in (mainly after 1 p.m.) and then fall into the 30s the evening and overnight.
Any leftover moisture looks to transition to snow (mainly after 9 p.m.) before exiting before the Tuesday morning rush hour. Snow will initially melt on contact with the ground temperature being as warm as it is, but light snow accumulation will be possible. Areas in east central Indiana along the Franklin-New Castle-Winchester line could see 1-2 inches and the metro could see up to an inch.
We'll then see a more quiet set-up through mid-week with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 40s Tuesday and mid 40s Wednesday. We've got a couple of weak waves that are possible both Thursday and Friday. With high temperatures near 50 on Thursday, we'll see a chance of stray rain showers. As cold air moves in Friday and temperatures drop back into the 30s, late day light snow showers will be possible.
An early look at All Star Weekend brings colder temperatures with highs in the mid 30s Saturday and low 40s Sunday but it is looking dry.
