INDIANAPOLIS — A combination of conditions for today have come together, especially across the northern tier of the state, to increase the risk of rapidly spreading fire.
Due to this, a "Red Flag Warning" has been issued in this zone and will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Postpone burning until conditions improve.
For today, central Indiana will continue to be influenced by a dome of high pressure, keeping sunshine around, as well as temperatures trending upward to near 80 degrees. That's nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of year.
Tomorrow will be a copy-and-paste forecast from today, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures again approaching the 80-degree mark.
This pattern will break down come Friday as spotty showers return to the forecast in the late afternoon and evening.
We're watching this developing system to our west and how it will time out locally. It's looking like we'll still be on the warm side of this system Saturday, with highs in the mid to upper 70s as the cold front is set to move through late Saturday into Sunday morning. This will bring scattered rain and storm chances, as well as falling temperatures for the second half of the weekend. A cooler trend with highs in the 50s will start next week.
