Near-record highs Monday, severe weather threat Tuesday | Live Doppler 13 Weather Blog

Look for nothing but sunshine Monday in central Indiana, but that will quickly change.

INDIANAPOLIS — Wow, what a month February has been, and the crazy conditions continue the next few days.

Today will be simply remarkable with a warm south wind, and temperatures well above the average high of 45. Look for a warmup with the possibility of a record-tying high at 68 degrees. That high would tie previous 68-degree days in 1917, 1944 and 1998. Look for nothing but sunshine today, but that will quickly change.

Tomorrow, conditions in Indiana get very unstable ahead of a cold front. A few showers are possible during the day, but by evening, we enter a slight risk for severe weather. Rain, thunderstorms and strong gusty winds are all possible during these storms, and tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

As the storms pass, temperatures will drop like a rock, all the way down to the 30s, and they will stay there all day Wednesday. Look for a slow climb the rest of the week with a return to the 60s over the weekend.

Again, be weather aware Tuesday. We could see some rocky conditions. Download the Live Doppler 13 weather app for the latest forecast updates and live interactive radar.
