INDIANAPOLIS — We're in the clear of the threat of severe weather waking up this Friday morning. We'll see a few lingering rain showers across the southern tier of the state as temperatures drop behind the cold front. We'll spend the first part of the day in the 40s, then recover into the mid to upper 50s this afternoon as skies gradually clear.
We'll stay mostly clear, and it'll turn much cooler overnight as temperatures fall into the mid-30s. We're looking at a sunny but breezy start to St. Patrick's Day weekend, with high temperatures in the low 60s Saturday with southwesterly wind gusts up to 30 mph at times.
A weak cold front will move through late Saturday/early Sunday morning and bring a stray shower chance, as well as a reinforcing shot of colder air. Look for mostly to partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s for St. Patrick's Day.
As a colder air mass continues to take over, temperatures will continue to drop for Monday, with morning wind chill values in the teens and highs only in the upper 30s. A few snow showers across the northeastern tier of the state will be possible.
This cold snap won't last long as we'll recover to the low 50s Tuesday. We'll be more seasonal through next week, with highs in the 50s.
