INDIANAPOLIS — April finished as the eighth-wettest in Indianapolis history with 7.77" total. May starts dry with unseasonably warm temperatures.

A warm front will push into southern Indiana late this evening, prompting a few scattered showers south of the I-70 corridor after 10 p.m. Spotty showers will be possible overnight as well as this boundary slowly lifts northward across the state.

THURSDAY: Even warmer with highs mid-80s. A stray shower or storm will be possible in the morning and then again in the afternoon, mainly after 2 p.m. and along and north of I-70 where a warm front will stall out.

When will rain impact my plans next?

The better chance of rain and storms returns during the pre-dawn hours Friday as a cold front begins to move in. Widespread rain will then continue through the morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures will be hindered due rain and clouds with highs in the mid-70s. Most rain should wrap up in the evening as this front slides east.

What is Saturday looking like for the 500 Festival Mini Marathon, college graduations, and Rev?

Rain looks to move out of the Indy metro area by Saturday morning. We'll start with partly cloudy skies becoming mostly sunny during the morning. Temperatures look pleasant in the upper 50s as runners are headed to the starting line between 7 and 8 a.m. Winds will be light from the northeast at 5-10 mph during the duration of the race. Temperatures will recover to the mid-60s by mid-morning.

Saturday evening will be tricky — another system is trying to push in, bringing the potential of a few showers, mainly after 6 - 8 p.m. There is still some disagreement on the timing of this system between longer-range weather models, so make sure to check back as we get closer to the weekend.

Saturday evening's system should be out of here by daybreak Sunday. Look for partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s to round out the weekend.
