INDIANAPOLIS — A major shift from hot and dry weather brings several rain opportunities and more seasonal temperatures by the latter part of the weekend.
TODAY'S FORECAST:
- Final day of well above average temperatures near 90 degrees
- Mainly sunny through the afternoon
- A few showers or storms after 8 p.m., especially across the southwestern tier of the state
We'll stay partly cloudy overnight with a few stray showers possible. Temperatures hold steady in the upper 60s.
SUNDAY RAIN TIMELINE:
- A few stray showers in the morning
- Rain chances increasing in the mid-morning as a cold front approaches
- Scattered showers and isolated storms will be likely in the afternoon
Temperatures will be held to near 80 degrees for a high as a cooler air mass takes over.
Scattered rain and a few storms will again be possible on Monday, especially across the southern half of the state closer to where this frontal boundary stalls out. Temperatures will actually be a few degrees below average in the low 70s. A secondary front will move through on Tuesday bringing another round of scattered rain and isolated storms.
As this system departs on Wednesday, a few stray showers will be possible with highs in the mid 70s. Sunshine and seasonal temperatures then settle in for the rest of the week.
As far as rainfall potential, a few inches are possible for those areas who see heavier rain events. While this is helpful to the recent dry stretch, it will likely not be enough to completely wipe out the drought conditions across the state.
