INDIANAPOLIS — Step outside and you know that winter is not over yet — not by a long shot.
Yesterday was simply awesome, with a high of 61 degrees at 3 p.m., but we are still a month away from spring. If you have things to do, errands to run, I would do them later today because tomorrow afternoon could be a real mess!
Temperatures today are 25 degrees cooler than at the same time yesterday, and we won't get out of the low 30s for highs today.
Looking at some of our computer guidance, it becomes clear that tomorrow could be messy. Light snow comes into the state late tonight and sticks around until early Thursday prior to the morning rush hour. Thursday afternoon, freezing rain, snow and rain all move into the area, and the evening rush hour could be problematic.
Friday looks dry — but cold — and the weekend will stay well below the average high of 48 degrees with highs in the mid-30s.
We will see a return to warmer weather next week with a high of 50 degrees by Tuesday.
All in all, a reminder that February isn't March, and it certainly is not April. The forecast proves it is not time to put away your winter gear yet.
