INDIANAPOLIS — A very warm and humid air mass is expected this weekend with heat indices topping out at 95-100 degrees. Stay well hydrated if you have outdoor plans today.
Skies will become partly cloudy this afternoon as temperatures top out near 90 degrees. Clouds will develop with the heat of the afternoon, and there will be enough excess energy in the atmosphere to fuel a few afternoon pop-up storms. Severe storms are not expected.
Skies should clear overnight, but we will stay warm and muggy through the night. Lows will only fall into the low 70s.
Dew points will continue to be in the low to mid-70s Sunday, putting our muggy meter in the "miserable" category. Temperatures peak in the low 90s Sunday afternoon with another chance of afternoon pop-up storms.
Our next storm system will bring more widespread showers and storms starting Monday afternoon and continuing through Tuesday.
On the back side of this system come mid-week, we'll finally see a break from the high humidity with more pleasant air returning, along with seasonal temperatures in the low to mid-80s.
