Snow squalls bring minor accumulations Monday | Live Doppler 13 Weather Blog

We have a few chances for snow over the next couple of days.

INDIANAPOLIS — It'll be a damp and foggy start to our Sunday with steady temperatures in the mid 40s. Rain showers begin to taper off by lunchtime as this storm system pulls east of the area. Temperatures will then begin to drop into the low 40s in the late afternoon as colder, drier arctic air begins to take over.

This much colder air settles in to start next week. Temperatures will hold steady in the low to mid 30s on Monday with snow chances as well.

A cold northwest wind gusting to 35+ mph at times will also bring lake-effect snow showers, especially across the northeastern tier of the state starting in the mid-morning and continuing well into the evening hours.

The combination of gusty winds and snow brings the potential snow squalls which could rapidly reduce visibility causing travel issues. The northeastern tier of the state including Kokomo to Muncie and Richmond could see minor snow accumulations from 1-2 inches with the Indy metro missing out on most of the snow.

The coldest temperatures in the extended forecast will occur Tuesday morning with lows near 20 and wind chills in the single digits. Highs will be cold in the mid 30s again on Tuesday as sunshine returns.

Temperatures will become more seasonal by mid-week with highs back in the mid 40s and above average highs in the upper 40s/low 50s continuing through Christmas weekend.

The next rain chance returns Friday with rain showers possible into the weekend.
