INDIANAPOLIS — After a three-day stretch of steady rainfall, the heaviest of the rain has come to an end.
Scattered showers will be possible through the morning as central Indiana sits on the warm side of this weather system. That means we will see the warmest part of the day this morning with high temperatures approaching 50 before falling to near 40 this afternoon.
The rain will exit this afternoon, though, with skies staying mainly cloudy and windy.
A Wind Advisory will remain in effect through 5 p.m. for most of the state as 45+ mph wind gusts are possible. Keep in mind this could cause some uprooted trees due to a very saturated ground.
We also have ongoing flooding threats today as many creeks, streams, and rivers are at their flood stage across central and southern Indiana.
Remember, if you encounter a flooded out road or low-lying area, turn around and find an alternate route. Most of the state has received 1-4" of rain since Thursday.
Skies will clear overnight with temperatures falling to the freezing mark.
Big improvements are heading our way for Sunday.
While most of the day will be dry, there will be a few weak waves that will pass through bringing a stray shower.
Look for a mix of sun and clouds otherwise with temperatures recovering to near 60.
This unsettled pattern will continue through the first part of next week. Another wave brings light rain in through early Monday and clear in the afternoon.
Seasonal highs hover in the mid-50s.
Tuesday will be the coolest day of the week with highs in the upper 40s under a mainly cloudy sky with stray showers again possible in the afternoon.
Wednesday and Thursday will be the picks of the week with mainly dry conditions and temperatures returning to the 50s.
Another heavy rain event looks possible for Friday.
