Live Doppler 13 Weather Blog: Hot and stormy for some

Central Indiana continues to deal with dangerous heat and dry conditions.

INDIANAPOLIS — It was a very hot and humid day for central Indiana with temperatures in the middle and upper 90s.

Yes, we were near 100 degrees today. Humidity was high, too, so heat index values were near 110 degrees. The storm track was across the northeastern part of the state, with radar estimating 4-6 inches of rain near Fort Wayne.

There were a few areas that got some much needed rain east of Indianapolis, but most of the area was dry. We are tracking a complex of storms late tonight in Iowa. If it holds together, there will be some rain from about 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday and Thursday will be hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s. We are also forecasting scattered showers and storms both days.

Any storm that does develop over the next couple of days may reach severe limits. We stay under a risk for severe storms through Thursday.

A stray storm is possible on Friday.

Our weather pattern changes later Friday into the weekend with a break from the high heat and high humidity. Expect sunny skies this weekend and highs in the lower 80s.
