INDIANAPOLIS — The latest analysis shows a lessening severe weather threat in central Indiana but with an axis of storms approaching the Indy metro area in the coming hours. At this time, heavy rain and lightning look to be main impacts with pockets of marginally severe wind (50-55 mph) possible. While we can't rule out a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, the overall threat seems low.
Rain and thunderstorms continue into at least midday Monday with an expected 1"-2" rainfall over the heart of central Indiana between now and then. Lighter amounts will fall in southeastern Indiana of a quarter-inch to a half-inch.
There may be some late-day sunshine after the passage of a cool front and the intrusion of drier air.
There's much more forecast confidence on clearing Monday night to set the stage for three nights in the 30s with potential of frost. But Tuesday into Thursday looks relatively quiet.
